Mexico - Part I

We are officially back (and germ free) from a nice trip to the Mayan Riviera. We stayed at a lovely resort called Barcelo Maya Palace and were impressed by its beauty. One thing it claimed was that it was "Premium" and I have to agree. We were very well treated in all places. They even had waiters trained to make balloon animals for the kids. But enough of that. Let the pictures tell of our adventure!

The flight down was better than expected, even with an early AM flight. Sonya managed a nap on the plane, while Catherine dozed on our bus ride from Cancun Airport to Barcelo Palace. Glen's parents joined us on our family vacation and were located right behind us on the plane (and next door to us at the resort).

Cheerful even on an 8 am flight

Ready to go!

Walking to lunch. There were pathways winding through our resort and that also linked us to the other two Barcelo resorts.

Lunch Time!

What a joker!

Sonya crashed half way through our second day

Catherine strolling on one of the many patios (she didn't nap at all....sigh)

Sonya lounging with her choice coral for the day. She enjoyed throwing it into the ocean for mommy to find for her. Her vocabulary has soared on this vacation. She will attempt to repeat any word you say. Incredible how a change in scenery can stimulate mental pathways.

Nice job Catherine (though she can claim <10%). class="mobile-photo" align="center">

Beach view left

Beach view right. When we first arrived at the resort it was running at about 30% capacity. With the Swine Flu, by the end of week one, it was only at 10%. It was eerily quiet but also nice not to worry about finding shady spots on the beach.

A walk up to 3/5 restaurants on our section of the resort. The food whether buffet style or dine in was very good. We did have our favourite restaurant (Coral Japanese) but we were only able to eat there once. We also quite enjoyed the French style cuisine offered.
